DAN GRUNDY - HEAD COACH / DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Coach Dan Grundy enters in his fourth season at the helm of the Columbus Titan football program.  He enters this year with an overall record of 22 wins and 10 losses.  He has led the Titans to back to back District Championships (2008 & 2009) and back to back Bi-District Championships (2008 & 2009) as well as one Coal Bucket Championship in 2009. Coach Grundy currently ranks 5th all time in Columbus football history with 22 wins as the head football coach.  During his tenure Coach Grundy has had 23 All SEK selections and 4 players earn All State honors on the defensive side of the ball. As well as stressing excellence on the field Coach Grundy demands excellence off the field.  High personal character, discipline and hard work, academic achievement and athletic excellence are his main concerns for his players.  Upon graduation from Pittsburg State University Coach Grundy spent 1 season as the defensive coordinator at Eureka (Ks), 2 seasons at Topeka High School as defensive coordinator and 2 seasons at Carthage (Mo) High School before taking the Head Coaching job at Columbus.  Coach Grundy completed his Masters Degree in Secondary Administration from William Woods University in 2009. Coach Grundy is married to his wife Lindsay and they have two children, Reese and Cooper.

SCOTT QUINLY - OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR / WIDE RECEIVERS

Coach Scott Quinly is entering his fourth season as the offensive coordinator for the Titans.  Prior to Columbus, Coach Quinly spent 8 years coaching in Carthage (Mo) as a football coach and head baseball coach.  Over Coach Quinly's tenure as football coach, his wide receivers have received all state honors 11 times in Kansas and Missouri.  The Titan offense has topped the SEK league in scoring and scoring differential 2 of the last 3 years averaging 39.6 points a game.  Offensively the Titans have averaged 2,315 yards passing per season good for 208.4 yards per game and 1,982 yards rushing a season good for 191.5 yards a game.  In 2009 three seniors wrote their names in the Titan football record book breaking previous records.  Damion Tinnin set a new career passing record with 4,317 yards passing.  Matt Crain set a new career receiving record with 2,458 yards and Lewis Kellogg set a new career rushing mark with 2,458 yards.  Over the past 3 seasons the Titan offense has placed 23 players on the All SEK Team and 7 players on the All State Team.  Coach Quinly received his BS Degree from Pittsburg State University and his Masters Degree in Secondary Administration from William Woods University. Coach Quinly is married to his wife Cindy and has two daughters, Ashlyn and Anniston. 

BLAKE BURNS - OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINE

This will be Coach Blake Burns 6th year as a Titan football coach.  Blake graduated from Columbus High School in 1999 where he was a standout offensive lineman for the 1998 Titan team that finished the regular season undefeated and finished the year 10-1.  Coach Burns was an All SEK and All Area performer while playing football for the Titans.  He continued his football career at Independence Community College where he was a two time All Jayhawk Conference Offensive Lineman in 1999 and 2000.  Upon graduation from I.C.C. Blake went on to sign with Missouri Southern State University where an injury ended his playing career.  Coach Burns received his BS in psychology (2003) and MS in Special Education from Pittsburg State University in 2009.  Coach Burns and his wife Amanda reside in Columbus where they have 2 daughters, Megan and Allison.

TROY HARAUGHTY -  SECONDARY / RUNNING BACKS

This will be Coach Troy Haraughty's 8th season coaching football for the Titans at the high school level.  Coach Haraughty is a 1989 Columbus High School graduate where he was a three sport standout.  Troy received All SEK honors in football, baseball, and wrestling during his career as a Titan.  In 1986, 1987, 1989 Troy was a member of the State Champion Wrestling Titans under Coach Ken Jones.  During his senior year Troy placed 2nd at the state wrestling tournament helping the Titans capture their 3rd state championship in 4 years. Troy was an All SEK, All Area and All State selection as a baseball player his senior year.  Troy went on to play college baseball at Coffeyville Community College and Pittsburg State University where he graduated and received his degree in education.  Coach Haraughty is also the Athletic Director for Columbus Middle School. Troy and his wife Crisha reside in Columbus and have 3 children, Olivia, Riley, and Jaxson.

HEATH PERRY - DEFENSIVE LINE

Coach Heath Perry enters the 2010 campaign as the longest tenured coach on the Columbus staff.  This will be Coach Perry's 16th season with the Titans on the gridiron.  Coach Perry is a 1988 Columbus High School Graduate where he excelled on the football field.  He was named All SEK, All Area, and All State his senior year. He currently holds the Titan record for interceptions in a season with 9.  Coach Perry continued his football career at Southwestern College in Winfield (Ks) where he was awarded All Academic - All Conference status.  Coach Perry received his BS in Physical Education from Southwestern College and his Masters Degree in Athletic Administration from William Woods University in 2009. Coach Perry and his wife Libby reside in Hallowell (Ks) and have 4 children: Lainie, Allie, Ty, and Talyn.  Coach Perry and Libby are expecting another child in mid September.
